The use of cell-phones in the classroom it is an increasingly frequent practice.  While for some people, this can be very beneficial, for others, this practice is very harmful. In this essay, I propose that a conscious and regulated use of the cell-phones during the classes can be very beneficial for the students learning, and for the teacher performance.

It is very common to see that most teachers oppose the use of cell-phones in classes. They argue that the cellphones distract the students, getting hard the process of learning. Many are the claims about social networks, especially when the students answer messages in classes. Despite that arguments, a regulated use of the cell-phones and the internet can help the students to the learn, in this way, the cell-phone can be a very useful tool for both students and teachers. For example, if a student forgets some content already seen in classes, namely, a content that all the other students know, the student can search this content in the web through his cell-phone without delaying the class.

In addition to the support that the cell-phones can be for the student, this apparatus can be a very useful tool for the teachers. Using the cell-phones in his favor, the teachers can innovate and make a more dynamic class, using apps, videos or web sites. The internet, and particularly the cell-phones, offer us a wide range of tools and services that if we know how to use, they can be very useful to develop any activity, especially teaching.

Considering these aspects, a correct and appropriate use of the cell-phones can even improve the learning methods, however, it can difficult the teaching process if the students pay attention to other things in the cell-phones, such as messages, videos or photos. Therefore, the use must be regulated and mainly, conscious on the part of the students, since that they decide to use or not their cell phones in classes.

The next line graph shows how many million dollars were spent in books between 1995 and 2005 in developed countries, specifically, Germany, France, Italy and Austria. In addition, the graph allows us to compare the money spent on books for each country.

Between this countries, Germany is the country where most money was spent on books, 80 million dollars in 1995, which was increased to approximately 98 million dollars in 10 years, with a peak in 1999 followed for a slightly drop to 2003, where we can see a rapid jump to 2005.  A few million dollars down we find France, country that go up from approximately 55 million dollars in 1995 to 75 million dollars in 2005. Comparing with Germany, the increase of France is very gradual and without relevant decreases. If we consider the current expense on books, below France was Austria, with approximately 72 million dollars, however, this country present a constant increased in comparison with others countries, in this way, we can see a slow climb between 1995 and 1999, followed for two years of remain. In 2001 appear a dramatically jump of 20 million dollars in just two years, after that, the increase was a little more gradually. Seeing Italy, we can say that since 1995 to 2002 approximately, Italy spent more money than Austria. Italy is the country with more fluctuation of the graph, we can see a peak of 55 million dollars followed than a slight decrease in 1999, after that, Italy remain a gradually expand of the money expense in books, anyway, in approximately 2002 was exceeded for Austria.

With this information, we can say that between 1995 and 2005, Germany remain as the country that expense more money in books, with 80 million dollars in 1995 and exceeding France for 25 million dollar, currently, Germany exceeded France for 18 million dollars approximately. The country that spent less money before the 2000 was Austria, because since the 2002 that exceeded Italy, country that has a very slight increase.

In my opinion, the language is a very enigmatic skill of the humans, is like an attempt to show our subjectivities and our reflections. Mark Pagel says that in the origins, the humans like the Homo erectus has just the skill of social learning, that is learn through the visual theft, copy the things that others persons do. I think that we currently use the social learning and sometimes, is very useful, in addition, also using the language we can see a social learning, not so much linked with the visual theft, maybe, a “listen theft”.  In this line, Mark says that in a moment of our evolution, we had to choose between two options: live in small groups or in cooperative societies. Pagel tell that if we had choose to live in small groups, we would probably still living like the Neanderthals, because in small groups are fewer ideas, and for this, not language. On the other hand, living in cooperative societies means replace the visual theft for the language. In my opinion, that is problematic, because I don’t think that in small groups are less ideas than in a big group, actually, exist many small groups like hunter-gatherers who have complex ideas and very rich languages, for that, I disagree with the idea of one world one language, that would be very destructive, even more considering that the peoples would not like to change his ancient language. Anyway, I agree respect the power of the language, with that we can change our lives and change the world.
Considering the language and specifically the Chilean case, I think that the language is something mutable which operates in the practice, not in dictionaries or grammaticism laws, in this line, we can change that conscious or unconscious, and that is not bad.

This garbage is affecting the earth and affecting ourselves, which has made the situation critic and probably, unsustainable later. It is very important begin now to change that, is a responsibility that we have with the earth, and with the future generations.

Problem

It is relevant that the common people changes there daily life for a life with less waste and more recycling. We must to question our habits and our thoughts; moreover, we have to question our culture, because here is a part of the problem. Is necessary don’t forget the industrial factor. It is true that we as common people have responsibilities about the ecology, but the companies and the industries (like the extractive industries) are destroying the environment on a large-scale, is necessary to stop them. Anyway, this work is oriented to the people and to contribute to a cultural change that can solve the problem about the inorganic wastes.

Anthropology can help to solve this problem, with this discipline we can identify and analyze cultural practices that produce a lot of waste, in this way, we can question this practices and show that to the people, exposing others alternatives, oriented to clean and protect the nature.   

Solution

We must change our practices that produce too much inorganic garbage. Incorporating a subject in the primary school to teach the children’s about environment pollution, and showing the destructive that can be our simple practices of our daily life we can change the practices of the new generations, more than that, is very important that people know about the climate change and about the nature contamination. But we need more than that to change the destructive traits of the culture imposed for the neoliberalism. We must have the material conditions to make an effective recycling, is very important to increase things like the recycling points in the city. In addition to this, we must educate all the sectors of the society, through free workshops and any kind of dissemination of information about this topic. Not just the destruction of our practices must be exposing, information about alternatives and recycle practices can make the difference. It is true that the industries and companies will keep contaminating, but we must make our part, obviously, without forgetting this problem.

Hello my friends, how are you? Today I’m going to tell you about phone apps.

I have many types of apps in my phone, mainly games that I don’t play so much but I can’t uninstall that for any reason. Of all the apps that I have, the app that I use a lot than the other is Youtube. Currently, Youtube is a default app in the phones and probably, is the most renowned apps in the world. I think that you know in what consists the app but anyway, I’m going to tell you haha. Basically, Youtube give you the possibility of upload your own videos in the web and to watch the videos of other peoples. The contents are really broad, since videos about music, to videos about political. Naturally, I discovered this app many years ago, when my cousins show me crazy videos when I was a child.

I use this app very frequently, maybe all the days and mainly to listen music (although is an app for videos, I think that is the best web to listen music free). Also I use that for watch scenes of movies, funny videos, notices, tutorials etc.

I think that Youtube is a very useful app and very recommendable, because with that you can access to a lot of information and a lot kinds of contents, allowing you have funny and learn.

Hello everyone, today in my practice I do exercise about vocabulary and listening’s mainly. In that exercises I got good results (compared with that I Expected). Anyway, I have some problems mainly in the listening exercises, because is very difficult to me understand the English even more, if the people talks faster.

Today, I’m going to talk to you about an ambition that I have, or rather, about a thing that I wish to do.

I have always loved the art in specially, the music, thing that I dedicated a lot of time. But another art that I love is the painting. I think that the vision is an overvalued sense, because in our lives all turnaround of that, underestimating the amazing of the other sense. Anyway, the things that the vision can feel are totally beautiful and magical, things like the sunset lights, the mountains, the night and even, the streets or the buildings of the city. The skill to take this natural things, combine it each other’s or imagine new things and paint it in a paper, a canvas or in another surface is something great and exciting. For things as these I want to learn this art someday in the future.

The truth is that I tried to paint some things, but all the times I have failed with terrible paintings hahaha, anyway, the people say that no exists bad art, but seriously, my paintings are really ugly HAHA.

Well, I know that we can’t begin with the best, all is a process that we must do with effort and enthusiasm. That’s all for today, good bye!

Hello my friends, today, the teacher give us a free topic and I chose talk about my favorite animal, because I don’t know anything about the horoscope and are a fun subject.
I think that my favorite animal is the wolf and all her biological family like dogs, foxes etc. Why? I am not sure, but I think that I like these animals because they live in the background of nature, inside the forests and mountains, places that I like so much. This animal live mainly in the northern hemisphere.
I think that the howling of the wolves is something magic and beautiful, is like a song dedicated to the moon, the stars, the sky and the nature. In this line, I like dogs so much because they are fantastic and faithful creatures, in others words, great partners.
Another animal that I like very much are the humans, because they are my specie obviously, and I be raised for they.
Well, with regard to my inner animal I think that I don’t have one, because I am a human and for that another animal haha, anyway, if I could have other specie inside me I could like that be a wolf.

Hello everyone, I will talk about some jobs that I would like to develop in the future.
Naturally, I would like to work on that I am studying, that is, as a social anthropologist or in some area of ​​archeology, even though there are problems with the ​​labor field haha. I have always liked to help other people and I would love to find a job where I can do it, that is why I would like to use my university career in service of others, developing, for example, field work to defend communities avoid the injustices of our times. Besides this, I would love to work on reconstructing the forgotten history of our peoples, whether they are indigenous or simply the oppressed, but of course, it is difficult to find work developing this haha.
Another job I would love to practice is carpentry. I like to design furniture with contemporary forms as well as antique furniture, the details of these are great. In my free time, I would make infinities of houses for stray dogs that suffer from the cold in the street. Related to this, I would like to carve, make figures and various crafts, which clearly, would be much more complex. Anyway, for now, I'm content to repair the furniture that has been broken in my house haha.

Since I was a child, I saw my family sing and play music until dawn, where my grandmother was the coolest playing the piano, also followed in the footsteps of my dad, who encouraged me to want to learn more. At the age of 13 I had my first guitar, a simple but beautiful guitar, not with the best sound, but it is still my most faithful companion. At the beginning, like any beginner, my fingers did not flow so well on the guitar, what did flow beautifully was my motivation to learn, thanks to this, I gradually developed my ear and also my fingers. to music, it takes me to hidden places,  that I only find in each string and in each song that I play. Playing music frees me of everything  that I can feel at that moment, it takemy mind to the clouds. I am very grateful to the people who encouraged me to start with music (including the artists I enjoyed).

Another art that I like is the cinema, it drives me crazy every staging that I can find in a good movie, I hope that at some point in my life I have the opportunity to take wonderful shots like the ones I've had the pleasure of seeing. Even so, I think that I do not change for anything the wonderful feeling of playing my guitars as if it were the quiet current of a river that carries with it the most beautiful chords heard by the humanity.

Hello friends again! This time I will talk about food, something that every person loves.
Some time ago, I decided to take a vegetarian diet because of animal suffering due to the industry. Currently, I am seriously thinking about becoming vegan, but for the moment it would be complicated mainly because my parents still support me.
A dish that I have always loved are vegetables, fortunately, my parents also enjoy them as a child as too many. Precisely, my favorite food dish includes delicious beans, and his name is feijoada, or as I prefer to call it vegetarian feijoada. The feijoada is a typical Brazilian dish that my mother (who is Brazilian) cooked often. This dish consists basically of rice with black beans, which are cooked separately and joined when serving. Normally, this dish takes a lot of meat, from cow tongues to pig's ears, because its birth corresponds to the period of slavery, where African slaves and Afro-descendants cooked with all the leftovers left by others. Currently, this dish is very famous and even the wealthiest restaurants prepare it, making it "gourmet", even though it was born out of the greatest need. With respect to how I adapt it to my diet, I basically eliminate the meat from the dish, but adding delicious vegetables such as mushrooms or eggplants, because the simple combination of the beans with rice is fantastic!

Hello everyone, I wanted to tell you about my hobby. Last year I decided to save and buy a bicycle, I wanted to remember the old days when I went out with my sisters and cousins ​​to walk around the neighborhood with our bicycles, where each afternoon we would return tired and take the rich "once" they had prepared for us our familys. Over the years, my bike stopped serving and therefore I said goodbye to those adventures I most wanted ... Finally! Nine years later I had my much longed for bicycle. I had lost my habit, and I did not dare to go out to the great avenues to take a walk with her, but I did not have a helmet on top! Now I look like that child again, eager for adventures. Fortunately, I live under the San Cristobal hill which I have traveled several times with my little sister, leaving both tired. Also, when I arrived from the university I went to the streets of the neighborhood where I met all my neighbors, ex-companions and where they persecuted me without stopping the adorable dogs, I even laughed only haha. I feel that my problems are flying together with the wind that hits me in the face, and they leave to not return until the other day when I am in Hahaha University. But the most beautiful and comforting, is to leave my house where my pets and family wait for the "once", just like when I was a child.

Hello everyone again! Today I want to tell you about some things that I would love to learn, and others that I tried and for some reason I stopped.Music is something that I have always liked a lot and to which I have dedicated a lot of time, learning to play some instruments. An instrument that I have always liked a lot and that costs me a lot is the piano. I love the sound it produces and the movements it implies, along with all the musical possibilities that can be developed, although, I began to learn with great enthusiasm I have not advanced too much, why? It is not that I have felt frustrated, I just think that I have left it aside for pure laziness, since I think it is an instrument that requires much more dedication than others and a lot of patience. In spite of everything, I plan to learn later and I still try to play some melodies.Another thing I would love to learn later is to paint, either with oil, acrylics, ink does not matter, I would only love to capture in images the things that I see and feel, something that has always struck me especially for my father , who has great talent with everything related to drawings, paintings or illustrations.I hope someday learn to do these things, I have not lost hope, as people say, it's never too late.

Hello friends again, today I will talk about my first day of university.

The truth is that I did not feel nervous the first day of classes, but most of all I was very curious about the university, the halls, etc. Anyway, already approaching the university I was quite worried because I was late and could not find a street to get to the university, I was a little lost haha.

At first the classes were quite introductory and general, trying to explain how the university and all its elements worked, but of course, we did not understand much. The first thing I did was locate the bathrooms of the university (the most important) and also, try to memorize the rooms where I would have classes and not get lost in the attempt. I remember that I did not know where the casinos of the university were and one day in the micro listening to some conversations I knew where they were, from that day I was able to have lunch in a normal way haha.

The first person I spoke with was a friend from high school who happened to study the same career as me and I saw him in the room the first day of classes.

Hello my friends, today I’m going to talk you about an old friend. I knew Matias C. in the secondary school, in the Lyceum.  The first time when I talk whit Matias was in the way to the school when we were very late (like ever).  I can’t tell that since this moment we make good friends, because it was at the next year when we began to talk. He is very friendly and understanding and that gave me friendliness. He loves the sport like basquetball, football, and now he is studying engineering in something that I can’t remember jaja. In generally, we don’t have a lot of things in common, but we have the same sense of humor, for this reason, I like to spend time with Him.Since we left the high school and we entered in the university, we can’t meet very often, anyway, sometimes we meet also with our other friends in the house of anyone or just in a park.  We have a group of six or seven friends and sometimes, we meet to talk or just, spend time.

Hello my friends, today I’m going to talk you about the things that make me feel good.  Something that ever I have loved is the music, since I was very young, for this reason, I began to learn to play instruments. Currently, I play the guitar and the harmonica, and a bit of drums and piano.  Also, now, I’m learning to play cello. Listen music is something that excite me, and I think that play instruments is a very nice experience, a fantastic phenomenon and I feeling like in “trance” (maybe I exaggerate a bit jaja).
I play very frequently the guitar and harmonica, even when I’m studying for not get bored or to keep me concentrated and relaxed.Another thing that makes me feel good is the trekking, because I love the forests, the hills and the nature. I live near to the Cerro San Cristobal in the Recoleta side, and I like to take a walk for his ways. Walk in the hills of Santiago is very relaxing and peaceful, in despite of the noise level of his streets and his car horns.
This semester I would like to fix the changes of mi bike and buy a helmet to can climb the hill near to mi house, and so feel better.

Hello everyone, this will be the last post of the year! Here I will talk about my experience with the English courses taught by the University.

Last semester I also had an English course, but that was very different from the one we had this semester. This is mainly due to the methodologies of the blogs, because last semester, we were just normal classes. With respect to blogs, the truth is that I do not like them very much, because computers do not like me in general, beside this, I do not really understand how does it work. Anyway, they have served me to write in English, what I did not know how to do well (still, maybe haha).

In my opinion, the English courses of the university are well, in comparison with my courses of the high school, that were very bad, in my opinion.

I think what my failures in speaking English are mainly in talking it, because I find it hard to put it into practice, rather, I failure in the fluency. To improve this, I plan to take advantage of the possible opportunities of talk English with people.

Outside of the English class, I use the English mainly for read in things like the computer, cell phone or in the texts of the university. The problem is that I do not talk it, because I do not usually need it. Anyway, sometimes I speak in English with my friends as a joke.

This website follow the line of the book “una antropóloga en la luna”, because both are of the same author: Noemi Villaverde Maza. This website and this book make a travel for practices, traditions, beliefs, etc of different peoples around the world, as say the subtitle of the book: the most amazing stories of the human species. In the website, we can find things like a ancient tradition of a amazonic group, even things like the imposition of the industrial trade and the supermarkets.

Although I visit this website very little (no more than once a month), I enjoy it quite. The website like me because It takes many subjects in a profound way, and it does not usually fall into the classic ethnocentrism found in sites of this type.

Although I have not read the book yet, I think it should be quite good, because her page gives a very good impression.
